Pilsen has prepared a special programme for the year 2025 as a celebration of the ten-year anniversary of the Pilsen – European Capital of Culture 2015 project. It will offer unique performances which will take place in the Czech Republic for the very first time but also traditional festivals enriched with the anniversary programme.

On 8th March 2025, the celebrations will begin with a spectacular open air event on Republiky Square which will offer a more than four-hour programme with a light show, video mapping as well as giant light puppets. An impressive aerial acrobatic show with artists hanging from a crane will become the highlight of the programme from 12th to 14th September.

For 40 years, the European Capital of Culture has belonged to the most successful and highly prestigious projects of the European Union, it helps given cities and adjacent regions develop culturally, socially and economically. So it also was in Pilsen, which until then had been considered an industrial city. Since 2015, it has started to be perceived as a metropolis that lives by culture intensively. The Pilsen – European Capital of Culture project has a share in it which followed cultural and historical traditions of the city and brought a significant transformation of the local art scene and infrastructure. For the year 2025, Pilsen has prepared a unique programme under the Pilsen 2025 brand.
